Ten Dollar Project: Week 2
Well, we're through week two on the Ten Dollar Project. I've experienced a minor setback in that I only managed to sell one of my pieces of jewelry on eBay, and that for the minimum bid of four dollars.
I've relisted the bracelet, because if it sells this time, I'll get the 85 cents refunded from my original listing fee. I've changed the minimum bid to a dollar, so hopefully it will sell at least high enough to cover my eBay costs.
In the meantime, I've learned a little bit about what these things are worth. I think I'll try selling on etsy.com next time, as was suggested by Jesse and Isadora in the comments on the last update. We'll see how it goes!
Your updates
There are a few more people participating this week, some modifying the details to suit their particular needs, which is great! The point of the project is to get creative, have fun, and earn some money, so keep it up!
Jake, posting in the comments on the last update, is buying and reselling computer hardware on eBay. He invested $120 and made a profit of $23. Congratulations!
Safranit, also posting in comments, hails from Israel. She's considering participating by knitting, but is concerned about people being able to afford it locally, or how shipping charges will affect selling online. I suppose all I can suggest is to give it a shot! You'll never know until you try. If anyone else has any advice to offer Safranit, feel free to leave a comment.
At "in a tizzy", Liz is considering joining up, but she's not sure which direction to take. I'd give her the same advice -- try something out. If it doesn't work, at least your learned something, and you might be able to make some money next time.
Funkybunch has an update on his progress showing ads on his site. Since investing $9.95 for web hosting, he's pulled down 58 bucks in twelve days! That's really terrific -- keep it up!
Conservative Conservationist at Financial Freedom 4 All is also trying Google ads on his (her?) site, with the "Ten Dollar" part of the project being a goal to get to $10 a day in ad revenue.
Finally, puppetdude has had the amazing idea of taking the Ten Pound Project (is that what they call dollars in England?) and turning it into a fundraiser, giving £10 to each smaller group within his a youth group and cutting them loose to raise money. It's a great idea, and I can't wait to see what comes of it. Looks like he's also considering reselling cheaper items from eBay for his personal £10 project.
Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for all the updates! Please let me know if you're taking a stab at the project and I didn't find you. I'll be sure to include your progress in next week's update.
If you want to participate, join in any time! Be sure to leave a comment or trackback so I can find you and keep us all updated!

G'day,
Couldn't find your email address anywhere on the site, so thought I'd leave u a note here.
Do you, or any readers here, know whether the survey websites are good for generating cash? Or are they all baloney?
Thanks,
Jon

Another update...
I found another hard drive to sell. I picked it up from Best Buy for $108.00. There are two $40 rebates for it, and it is currently selling on eBay (according to the completed listings) for between $60 and $80. I should make a profit of about $30 or $40 on this. I see a deal like this about once a week.. so if I can keep it up then that would be an additional weekly income of $20 at least. Not bad for about 30 minutes of work.
