Shopaholics, Control Your Clothes!
Do you spend more money than you would like on your clothes? Maybe you know you don't really need a new shirt, but that sale is just too good to pass up? Here's a quick tip to help control your impulsive shopping.
Make yourself this promise: before you buy another piece of clothing, no matter how cheap or how much of a good deal it is, you have to get rid of one piece that you already have. If there's nothing you're willing to part with, then you don't buy something new.
What's the Point?
If you make this deal with yourself and stick to it, you actually get several benefits out of it.
First, you obviously will save on space and reduce clutter. Closet space is at a premium in most homes, and this is a handy solution to at least keep it from getting worse. You also might finally find the motivation to get rid of those leopard print bell-bottoms. They were a bad idea in the seventies, and they're a bad idea today. Harsh, yes, but no apologies. This site's about tough love, people.
But perhaps more importantly, you could actually find yourself saving money. When you have to trash that $100 pair of pants before you buy that great new shirt that's on sale, you might decide that it's not actually worth it. So you spend less money. And spending less money, even a little at a time, adds up big time over the long haul.

Good thinking! I think I will wait to bring that idea up with my girlfriend though... ;)
